• Public Health Informatics Competencies
Here you will find two PDFs. The first, Informatics Competencies for Public Health Professionals, released in 2002, was formed by a working group to draft a consensus set of public health informatics competencies. The second, Competencies for Public Health Informaticians, is a list of core competencies that reflect the skills and knowledge necessary for effective public health informatics practice. This list was funded by the CDC in a cooperative agreement with the Association for Schools of Public Health. For more information regarding these documents, please click here.

• Public Health Informatics Institute (PHII)
The Institute fosters collaboration, innovation, and action. It works alongside public health practitioners to apply and manage information systems strategically and effectively.

• American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA)
AMIA is an association of biomedical and health informatics professionals. It is dedicated to all aspects of understanding and promoting the effective organization, analysis, management, and use of information in health care.

• CDC Public Health Information Network (PHIN)
The CDC Public Health Information Network (PHIN) is a national initiative to improve the capacity of public health to use and exchange information electronically by promoting the use of standards and defining functional and technical requirements.

Public Health Informatics and Information Systems - O'Carroll PW, Yasnoff WA, Ward ME, Ripp LH, and Martin EL (eds)
This book covers various aspects of public health informatics and discusses the creation and management of an information technology infrastructure that is essential in linking state and local organizations in their efforts to gather data for surveillance and prevention.

Washington State Health Information Infrastructure: Final Report and Roadmap for State Action
This report, provided by the Washington State Health Care Authority in collaboration with the Health Information Infrastructure Advisory Board, was for the Legislature and the Governor as directed by Substitute Senate Bill 5064 (SSB 5064), Chapter 261, Laws of 2005 regarding Health Information Technology and Electronic Medical Records.
