Our Mission
To provide an interdisciplinary environment that supports innovative research into information strategies and technologies to improve the health of the public.
Who We Are
We are housed within the School of Public Health at the University of Washington with offices in Seattle. Our highly esteemed faculty and staff challenge and encourage each other to pursue new ways to improve public health informatics. For the directory of our faculty and staff...
The Basics
The Center for Public Health Informatics (CPHI) aims to improve health care by helping to develop the infrastructure for the effective use of information technology within public health practices, research, and learning. Informatics is the study of information processing or computer science. Mass amounts of public health data are going untapped because of inefficiency and inaccessibility. We can change this with the application of technology and improved information processing. CPHI wants to improve public health resources for every level of public health care, from the local practitioner providing the best care to his or her patients to surveillance organizations tabulating information to recognize global pandemics.
